Names....

So as you can probably guess, the number one question we've got since announcing the pregnancy..... "What names do you like?" I have to wonder... how does one choose a name for their child? It's just so huge. Your child will have to live with the name you choose for the rest of their life. What if they hate it? What if kids make fun of it?
Some...or ANY advice on this huge task is welcome.

Another thing that makes it hard is the fact that everyone has an opinion on every name. And most people won't hesitate to tell you their opinions, especially if they don't like it... you don't want people to cringe when they hear what you're naming your baby. Or think to themselves, "Do they HATE their child???" But it all comes down to what THE PARENTS like... not what other random-hardly-know-you-but-still-not-afraid-to-criticize-your-name-choice-people think.

Anyway, I was introduced to this site by my very-wise, good-name-picking sister, Cami. And I will admit, I had my favorite names on this site picked long before I knew I would have to actually use one in the next nine months...

So here are some our favorites right now... In order of favorites.

Girls...

This has been "my name" since the I was approx. 11. The only reason I can think not to use it, it seems to be becoming more popular.

Mark's not sure about Jane. I love it because of Jane Banks. (Mary Poppins anyone?) Although, I will admit, it's rather plain...but classy.

Boys...
Boy names are a lot harder for me. But I have a few favorites picked out....
Boston is what I want for a boy... Mark is being convinced more and more... and has finally admitted to liking it. :) I can be rather persuasive.

Is our child destined to be a nerd with a name like Noah? I think it's adorable...

This has been "Mark's name" forever. Sadly, I have a bad memory of a Luke from high school... I'm working to get over it :) and I would even say it's growing on me.

What are your thoughts on our names?

I am absolutely no help...I can never decide on boys names. I have, however, had my first daughters name picked out since I was about 8...my husband will have no say in it. =)
Love the name Jane...that is the only name on your list that is not the name of one of my family members (that is a huge deciding factor in my book). And Luke is the only one on the boys list.
Good luck. =)

i love noah- i don't think it's nerdy. it makes me think of the notebook. i love both of your girl names, too. i don't know too many emmas or oliviahs, either.

Such great name choices Annika! How to decide?!? For some reason Olivia stands out to me (I can totally see you and Mark with a little Olivia), and you know how much I love Boston. :) And I love the name Jane too - simple, but classy as you said. If not used as a first name, such a great middle name. However, I'm excited to ultimately hear what you and Mark feel is the right name once your sweet baby is born...

Oh wow! I'm thinking you're going to have to have tons of kids so you can use all those names! I seriously LOVE them all! Emma always has been your name, but I can see you with an Olivia too. And Jane souldn't be cuter. (Jane Kathryn?) I love all the boys names too. I can't wait to see what you're having and what you narrow it down to. He/she will be sooo sweet though! :)

These are the cutest names! Bah! I totally love Reese or Jane for a girl and Noah or Owen for a boy. But don't take those because that's what I want for my kids.:) hehe jk. well not really. But I also love Emma & Luke..for some reason I can picture those real good. But honestly no matter what you name your child it will be perfect. aw how tender. lol Oh yeah but just a side note..stay away from Jackie.;) (you know why)

I think that my favorite girl name is Reese! I just love that. I really like them all though, a Jane Kathryn would be dar-ling:) Love the boys too. I love Noah, (not nerdy at all) and I think Luke is sweet. What a decision

So, we have the same taste in names. Wow! Several of your girls and boys names have been on my past lists. I've never heard of anyone naming their child Boston, but I love it! In fact, I love all your names, you can't go wrong!

I totally love all of those names! You will just have to have that many kids :) I agree that you don't want people wondering if you hate your child, but you definitely have some winner names!
